  Using Surveys in the Classroom

  二、主讲内容:

  This workshop will cover three important ways in which surveys contribute to the language learning classroom. Not only can surveys be used to reinforce prior knowledge and act as segues to new learning, they also serve as a strong tools in maintaining a highly functional learning environment. Surveys can be incorporated to provide peer feedback and act as a barometer for student performance among classmates. Surveys also act as powerful tools for allowing educators to gain insight into the effectiveness of teaching as it connects to student engagement and aptitude.

  These three uses for surveys in the classroom will be presented through a metacognitive approach. A short discussion of theory and use will be supported by a series of examples and activities in which the three modes of application will be demonstrated. Throughout the workshop, activities and resources will be shared with participants. A short review and question/answer session will bring the topic to a close.

  三、主讲人:Ian Stone

  Ian Stone specializes in academic ESL, having served as the Intensive English Program coordinator at Northern Virginia Community College. With nine years of experience in teaching and coordinating English programs for various levels and functions in the Washington D.C. area, Ian began teaching and training teachers in China in 2014. He possesses an M.A. in Intercultural Service Leadership and Management along with a graduate certificate in TESOL from The School of International Training (SIT) and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of New Mexico with a minor in Spanish. He served as a fellow at Liaoning University in Shenyang from 2014 to 2015, and is currently at Jilin University in Changchun.
